The design sets out to create a modern approach that addresses the constraints of the site and it is hoped that through good architecture the client can bring this site forward for development.
At ground level the entrance door is set back from the road and located on the northern elevation. The internal spaces have been designed with flexible family use in mind, with open dining/kitchen/living areas on the ground floor and bedroom accommodation at first floor level and within the loft space.
The principal elevations will be a pre-patinated zinc clad or rendered under a pre-patinated zinc roof and aluminium composite window and doors. The contemporary design seeks to cater for modern living whilst being sympathetic to the existing context and ensuring the longevity of the buildings. Materials have been chosen to reflect those found in the area but with a modern interpretation.
The proposed dwelling has been carefully designed to mitigate the impact on the residential amenity of the surrounding neighbours. No windows are proposed in the east and west elevations apart from high level roof lights which prevents overlooking of the neighbouring gardens. Corner windows have been provided on the front elevations providing dual aspect and will contribute to the natural surveillance of the street by way of providing an active frontage.
