Project Information:

The emphasis for this project was on long term running costs and low maintenance materials. The small but open plan house retirement is situated adjacent to the river Cam.

Constructed in oversized timber frame and heavily insulated, the thermal U-values were close to code 5 for sustainable homes. A sedum roof acts as a storm water attenuator and the solar hot water caters for the hot water and under floor heating demand. The internal finish includes exposed glulam beams and fitted oak furniture.

The externals were also given careful consideration and the dwelling boasts an attractive landscaped garden which you can view from the road.
